Reality Check

Yesterday Rafe, Gram and I were leaving lunch. As usual I was trying to hurry Rafe along as he found every possible thing to touch, pick up and play with in order to delay getting in the car. Here was our conversation:

Mommy - "Come on, Rafe. We need to go. Someone is coming to our house to work on our garage door!"

Rafe - "Mommy, don't panic. For goodness sakes, don't panic your life away!"

Nothing like a 4 year old to keep you in line! What could I possibly say after that??

Rafe's Easter House

Rafe did such a great job making his Easter house. He did the majority of it "all by myself". I did have to step in and help fill in the candy because it was being eaten so fast!! Wonder who was doing that??!!

Cory (and Rafe's) new toy!

Cory finally gave in and bought a much-needed riding lawn mower. After getting over the nausea from paying for it, Cory and Rafe actually had a GREAT time cutting the grass. We will see how long this "excitement" lasts in the heat of the summer!!

A Night at the Park

We had a wonderful night at the ball field tonight. Cory, Rafe, Gram, Pop and I went to see the Gamecocks play Furman at Fluor Field where the Greenville Drive play baseball. I was SO impressed with the ball park. It was such a treat and Rafe absolutely had a ball. He is really interested in baseball right now since he is playing t-ball. He wanted to know all about the game and, most importantly, how that "boy gets to run out there and pick up those bats." Of course our night was filled with a lot of junk food. Rafe consumed a pizza, popcorn, M&M's, pretzel and an ice cream in a baseball helmet. (I don't think I will need to question a belly ache in the morning!!) There is also a really neat playground at the ball field for the kids. Rafe enjoyed running around there! We all really had a great time tonight. I am looking forward to our next night at the park!!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!

A little leprechaun left Rafe a trail of money and a few surprises this morning. He was so excited about following the money around the house to the next destination. (I would be happy to pick up money, too!!) For breakfast he had GREEN eggs! He wasn't sure about them at first, despite the fact that he is obsessed with the color green. After tasting them he realized they weren't too bad. Happy St. Patrick's Day!!

I just love Rafe in his cute baseball uniform!! GO RAFE!

Weekend Fun!

We had a weekend of fun despite all of the rain. On Friday Rafe, Gram and I went bowling. That is one of Rafe's favorite things to do. However, by the end of the second game his little arm was getting tired. His superhero powers were starting to die down!! Rafe still "beat the socks off of us"!!

On Saturday we had TWO birthday parties. Unfortunately I did not have my camera at the first party and I missed out on some great pictures. This was our cousin Jay's first birthday. He is such a joy to our family and one of the happiest babies I have ever met! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JAY!!
After that we headed to Jump Zone for Rafe's friend, Hannah's, party. Rafe could jump all day. He absolutely had a ball but we had to carry his tired legs out of there. Needless to say he was not hard to put to bed last night!

Where did Spring go?

This past week Rafe and I visited a different park each morning to enjoy the beautiful Spring weather we were having. (Unfortunately, the weekend has not been more of the same.) Hopefully this week the temperatures will rise once again. We are ready to play outside again!

Birthday Party

At lunch today Rafe and I were talking about his next birthday party. (It is only 6 months away!!) I was telling Rafe where he had all of his previous birthday parties and his eyes just lit up. He said, "Mommy, I know where I want to have my party when I turn 5. I want to have it at Ryan's where we can get dessert!!" WHAT???!!!

After laughing about that one we talked on and I said, "Well, since you love bowling so much maybe we could have a bowling party." Rafe thought for a minute and then said, "I don't know about that. My cake might taste stinky because it is smelly in there!!"

Batter Up!

Tonight was Rafe's first t-ball practice. It is hard to believe Spring is just around the corner after the snow storm we had earlier in the week! Rafe had a wonderful time and is looking forward to his next practice!!

Joke of the day!

We have a comedian in the making at our house. Rafe LOVES jokes. He enjoys hearing them and loves to make them up. Here is his joke from today:

"How did Popeye get his girlfriend? Because she met him!!"

Isn't that hilarious? When he told Cory and me this joke tonight it caught us so off guard all we could do was laugh. How cute is he? I think he gets his sense of humor from his Mommy!!!

Another trophy!!

Last night was Rafe's basketball banquet at Fuddrucker's. Rafe had been waiting on this day for a long time so he could get his trophy. Well, he wasn't disappointed! He LOVES his trophy and is so proud of it. He thought it was really cool since the arms can be moved around. Wonder how long those will stay on??!!
Rafe, I am SO proud of you for playing basketball. Mommy and Daddy had such a good time watching you run around and play each week. You deserved that special trophy!

Winter (Spring??) Wonderland!!!

It FINALLY did it. It finally snowed at our house. This is the first time Rafe has ever been able to play in the snow and we have ALL taken advantage of it. We played outside last night for a little while until it started thundering. I have never heard of "thunder snow". All it took was one loud BOOM of thunder and Rafe took off for the house. He has never run so fast in this life!! Rafe must have asked us a thousand times if it was going to thunder again. We went inside and made snow ice cream instead!!

Well, today is a new day!! He woke us up at 7:00 screaming, "It snowed outside. Let's go out, get up, get up!!" We went outside at 7:00 and finally came in at 12:15 because we were all frozen. (I'm sure our neighbors enjoyed hearing our sleds this morning bright and early!!) Rafe absolutely had a ball. We made a snowman, had snowball fights (of course with boxing gloves), made snow angels and, best of all, went sledding and sledding and sledding!! He could not get enough!! I wish this day would last forever!!

Rafe all bundled up for the snow. He pretended to be Randy
from "The Christmas Story"!
