14 Months!

Two words would best describe Stella Ross this past month - BUSY BODY!! Maybe it is because it has been five years since we had a one year old in the house, but I have NEVER seen a child destroy, open, climb, tear into, or move things like this little girl can. Rafe has always been inquisitive and full of energy, but Stella Ross takes this to another level. (and I LOVE it!!). I have to admit she keeps me on my toes and makes me think about where I put things at all times. It is quite funny. If we open up a cabinet or a door she starts running out of nowhere to see what she can get into. Her favorite places of mischief are the pantry, under the kitchen sink, refrigerator, Bowser's closet and food bowl, and her favorite spot would have to be the stairs. We have now installed a gate at the top AND the bottom of the stairs and this just makes her furious!!! I absolutely love to watch her play and hear her "talk" to her babies and Elmo, her favorite playmate. One thing remains certain about this rambunctious 14 month old, she is full of love. She will drop everything to give you a big hug or kiss. What more could you ask for???

14 months ~
  • she still continues to be a FANTASTIC eater. We have to make her get up from the table. I say all the time I think she would eat all day long. Her new favorite foods are any kind of berry (blueberries, strawberries, etc.) and tomatoes. I cannot imagine how much she will love them this summer when they actually taste good!!
  • goes to bed at 7:30 and gets up at 7:00. Naps at 9:30 for about an hour and then again at 3:00 for about an hour
  • she is doing a great job drinking out of her sippy cup and only takes a bottle first thing in the morning and before bed. We are going to cut out the bedtime bottle tonight and I don't think she will miss it one bit. She even finishes her bottle early and starts pointing and screaming "bed!!" This girl loves her bed!
  • She loves to watch Elmo and Mickey Mouse. I cannot wait until we go to Disney World and she gets to actually meet him!
  • Favorite toy is her slide ~ we had to move it upstairs so if and when she falls she will be on the carpet! She wants to be on it all the time.
  • LOVES to be outside swinging or just walking around. She REALLY wants to drive her brother's go-cart!!

Transportation Fair!

Rafe had a Transportation Fair at school today and it was such a wonderful experience for the kids. They have been studying various types of transportation and they were able to see first hand some of the vehicles they have learned about. They saw tractors, fire trucks, canine policemen, cranes, motorcycles, dirt bikes, and speed boats. However, the biggest hit of all was the ice cream truck!! Do you blame them??

Love is in the air!

We had a fantastic Valentine's weekend. Saturday night Cory and I went to dinner downtown and Gram and Pop grilled steaks with Stella Ross and Rafe. Rafe was SO excited about them coming because he wanted Pop to paint his face like a vampire! He wore his face like that all night, even sleeping like a vampire, and then we had to wash it off before church. It was great, though!

Sunday morning we made heart shaped waffles and this special vampire helped me!

Rafe loved them and ate THREE! He never eats that much!

Stella Ross assisted with the measuring spoons. After breakfast they were ready to tackle the day!!

After church we went to the mall to build a bear. This was Stella Ross's first time to build her own bear and she had such a good time. Her bear was pink, (is there really another color?) and Rafe built a rocker bear that plays music with his I-Pod. Pretty neat!

Ready to build a build their bears!

I think she likes it!

"PLEASE don't touch my bear!!"
After the mall we headed to the Melting Pot with Gram and Pop for some YUMMY fondue dessert. Rafe absolutely LOVED it and practically licked the pot of chocolate clean. He was on a little bit of a sugar high when we left but it was so much fun!!!
Gram and Rafe ready to cook
Valentine's morning Rafe and Stella Ross found their treats at the breakfast table.
Eating his favorite thing, cinnamon rolls, before school
This girl is HAPPY about Valentine's Day...

and this new shirt of her valentine!!

What a GREAT Valentine's Day!!

The Princess (Pirate) and Wolverine!

Rafe has enjoyed playing dress up since the day he could walk. I LOVE the fact that he still likes to play dress up. HE LOVED the fact that his sister played dress-up with him last night! It was bittersweet to see her slip into this pirate costume. Rafe wore this when he was two years old and was the cutest pirate I have ever seen. (he was a little more thrilled to wear the hat!!) I was also sad that my "baby" can fit into a two year old costume. Where has the time gone?

I don't know who had more fun but I have a feeling this is just the beginning of many, many dressing up and taking off with costumes. Now we just have to stock Stella Ross' closet with a tu-tu and ballet shoes and have Rafe try them on!! Fun, Fun!!

Under the big top!!

Sunday was a special day that I had been looking forward to for quite some time. We had circus tickets and this was Stella Ross' first trip to see "The Greatest Show on Earth". Unfortunately I woke up Sunday morning with the dreaded stomach virus that seems to be going around. So....Pop and Gram to the rescue!! Needless to say Rafe and Stella Ross were not the least bit disappointed! I cannot say the same thing about myself. I SO wanted to be there to see the expressions on their faces. I can only imagine how exciting it was for both of them. Gram said Rafe seemed to enjoy it more this year than any of the other times we had been. That would figure!! Stella Ross sat through it perfectly until intermission and then she had seen about enough of the clowns. Luckily we had food in her bag. Food can make Stella Ross last through ANYTHING!! Thank you, Pop and Gram, for once again stepping up to make sure the kids don't have to miss out. We are all so lucky.

100th Day of School

Today was Rafe's 100th day of school!! Wow, I cannot believe he has already been in school this long. His class has been counting up to this big day and had a lot of fun activities planned to celebrate. Rafe and I made this shirt for him to wear. He was SO proud!!

We had fun asking each other to find the numbers from 1-100 on his shirt!!!
