Purple (nails) Rain!

Stella Ross had her first pedicure yesterday in honor of Mommy and Daddy going to see Prince in concert. Rafe got an absolute kick out of it. (I even painted my fingernails purple!!) Stella Ross is SO proud of her purple toes. She will be running through the house and stop to make sure they are still colored. When I got her out of bed this morning she had taken off her sleep blanket and unzipped her footed pajamas. (something she has NEVER done) I have a feeling she was trying to look at her feet. Oh MY!

By the way, this was by far the best concert I have ever been to. Prince made sure EVERYBODY was on their feet dancing. That is my kind of party! Thanks, Pop and Gram, for letting Cory and me have a very rare night out.

A girl and her dog

Stella Ross is completely spoiling Bowser rotten. He now waits on her to bring him his food, piece by piece. Of course she has a little bite along the way. A little gross, but oh so sweet!

Lord of the Dance

Here are the newest members of the Riverdance team! Stella Ross got her very own "girl" costume to play in yesterday and Rafe could not be out done! He needed a tu tu, also. I think he has the moves to be the next Michael Flatley!

Here she is.....

Pebbles!

After a lot of sweat and tears, we were finally able to pull Stella Ross's hair up. She HATES to have anything done to her hair, but her brother was determined to make her wear her hair like this to baseball practice. After she got over the initial pulling she was so proud of herself. I love it but I think it will be a LONG time before she lets us do it again!!

Silly Bandz Mania!

Oh, which one will I wear???

15 Months!

Wow! I cannot believe Stella Ross is 15 months old. It is exciting, and sad at the same time, to watch what a sweet little girl she is becoming. She is not my tiny baby anymore! I feel like she changed so much in just this one month. She acts, and wants to be, like her brother's age. She is following in her brother's footsteps, too, always wanting some sort of costume or phiten necklace on. Yes, this girl wears phiten necklaces!! This month she has really taken on more of an interest in Bowser. She sits on his pillow, rubs him, and plays with him. It is amazing how gentle he is with her and how rough he his with Rafe. (could it be a reflection of the way he is treated by them!!??)

Favorites:
  • Songs - If You're Happy And You Know It, Itsy Bitsy Spider, Old McDonald Had A Farm, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, and of course Elmo's Theme Song
  • Food - she still eats amazingly well. There are times we have to make her get out of her high chair for fear she will be sick she has eaten so much. Her favorites are blueberries and strawberries, grits, yogurt, tomatoes, black olives, chicken, and broccoli. Her favorite "nack" are the cinnamon maple crunchies. Poor thing I have to hide them in the pantry from her because she will go in there, open the lid and start eating them all by herself. It is amazing how fast she can get that lid off!! Are we going to have to put a lock on the pantry door????
  • Sleep - she still gets up around 7 takes a nap at 9:30 and 3:00 and goes to bed at 7:30. She loves her bed. If she hears me say the word, "night night" she will drop to the floor and curl up. She has at least 10 pacifiers in her bed along with Elmo, a baby, a bunny rattle, and three loveys. She might love her bed because that is the only place she can have her pacifier!!
  • Talking - Stella Ross is talking up a storm now. Every day she is saying more and more words. She is now trying to put words together and she "talks" so fast when she gets on a roll. Of course this is just in "her language". Words she is saying are: mama, dada, brother, Bowser, Garfield, Gram (grrrr), Pop, night-night, bottle, snack (nack), bye-bye, berry, cracker, cheese, milk, more, tea (she loves some sweet tea!), water, bath, Elmo, Gymbo, bubble, and more that I cannot think of right now.
  • Favorite places - her favorite place to be is outside, but that is followed very closely by Gymboree. When we are almost to Gymboree I will say, "Stella Ross where are we going?" She starts looking all around and then starts jumping in her car seat when she starts to see familiar places. She LOVES Gymboree!
  • Animals - she loves to make animal noises. Her favorites are cow, pig, horse, cat, dog, elephant and bunny. She can recognize more animals than that but we have a hard time making their sounds!

At last!!!

What an exciting weekend we had! Our best friends from Charleston, the Fortney's, came to visit us. Rafe was just a little bit excited about seeing his "girlfriend"!! Every morning this week he would wake up and count how many days until they were coming.

We had dinner last night with our friends, the Hortons, and their two year old triplets. Needless to say fun was had by all. Unfortunately (for the moms and their laundry) it rained just before we arrived, but that didn't stop the little ones from playing hard. We had some extremely tired and dirty children by the end of the night. After dinner we came back home and let the big kids play for a while. They played so hard that Rafe and Caroline were actually asking to go to bed. At one point Caroline said, "I mean, they won't even LET us go to bed!" There was no time for sleeping. We had some serious catching up to do!

Stella Ross and Charlotte were born 8 days apart and enjoyed playing with each other. Most of their time was spent staring at one another and trying to figure out what toy they wanted that the other one had!

We had such a fabulous time with our friends this weekend and we were all sad to see it come to an end. We cannot wait until we meet again!

waiting on Ellis to drive his car

"Hey, I want to drive!"

"This car will work!"

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Rafe and I made green cinnamon rolls for breakfast this morning. This is one of Rafe's favorite days. He gets an excuse to wear his favorite color and PINCH those that don't! Happy St. Patrick's Day!!

Shake that parachute!!

Stella Ross was playing in the playroom and listening to her Gymboree music. The song came on that we sing in class to shake the parachute. Stella Ross JUMPED up, grabbed the rug, and started shaking it! How cute is that?

Jumping Fun!

We went to a birthday party for our cousin Jay this morning and fun was had by all. This was Stella Ross's first experience in a jump castle and she absolutely loved it. Rafe is such a master jumper and I have a feeling she is going to be just like her big brother in no time. She wanted to be in every jump castle with the big kids. Rafe was so sweet to his sister and tried his best to protect her and help her get across big jumps. He even took her down the BIG slide and didn't let go of her, which were Daddy's orders. They took a big tumble, but Stella Ross was smiling the whole way.

Frozen Yummy!

Cutting FOUR teeth at one time is NO FUN...

but this frozen bagel sure does feel good!

Wonder if that little girl in the window wants a bite?

I'll just keep it for now!!

Making Good Choices

I have been meaning to blog this so I would never forget an interesting conversation I had with Rafe one morning during breakfast:

Me ~ "You sure are in a good mood this morning. You must have REALLY slept well."

Rafe ~ "Well, last night I slept with God."

Me ~ with a confused look, "What do you mean?"

Rafe ~ "You see, every night in my bed God is on one side, and the Devil is on the other. When I am grouchy the Devil was beside me. Last night I slept all night beside God. I like to sleep with God EVERY night!"

Good choice!!

Nap - Take 2!

Stella Ross decided to pretend she was in a jump castle yesterday during her nap. Jumping is her new favorite thing to do!!

What to do??

What do you do on a COLD, rainy, Sunday afternoon?? Well, you make a snow cone, of course!!! When Rafe gets something on his mind we might as well do it because he does NOT quit talking about it until it happens!! Making a snow cone was on his mind all weekend and we told him after church we would do it. He chose his favorite drink, cherry juice, for the special syrup. Stella Ross got her first taste of a homemade snow cone and I was so disappointed when she started spitting it out after a couple of bites!! I guess she will just stick to ice cream!!

P.S. - notice the hats! As soon as Stella Ross walks into the house she grabs these hats for her and Rafe to wear and then walks over and turns on music to dance to. This girl loves her music and LOVES to dance!!

Bad Hair Day!!

During our nightly talent shows, we all wear a different hat or costume to perform in. Here is Stella Ross' pick last night:

I think it looks GREAT on her!!!
